Bassplayer/Mandolin player available

January 9th, 2012 by Rob

I’ve played bass and mandolin for 35 years. I do use an electric bass, so if that is a problem, pass me by. I use a Fender Precision and a small 25 watt amp. My bass inluences are John McCowan, Victor Wooten and Roy Huscky Jr. My mandolin playing can be summed up in two words: Sam Bush. I play the mandolin every day for 2 hours…I sometimes Have to make myself do this but it pays off soon as I’m on a stage or studio. I have 34 CD prejects under my belt and I’m ready to pick…as long as there is a paycheck involved. I am a Christian, do not do drugs or drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, I do puff grandpa’s pipe once a year, on his birthday. It would be a correct assumtion that I am a bluegrass whore…meaning, you got money, I’ve got time. I have no ego, I let my playing speak for itself…that’s the best foot forward any musician can do is keep the mouth shut unless trying out for vocals and let his/her playing speak for themselves. I also sing all parts, including the sometimes elusive baritone, but perfer the high tenor. Everybody sounds like someone, so I guess you could say my voavls sound very much like Steven Tyler of Aersosmith. I love playing at churches, not just festivals. If you are interested in me, email me for further info. Thank you for reading this…

Young, established Old-Time band looking for Fiddle player (Zanesville, Ohio)

January 9th, 2012 by Rob

We’re looking for a permanent fiddle player for The Wayfarers, an old time/americana/roots band located out of Zanesville, Ohio (45 minutes from Columbus)

We are looking for someone between the ages of 18-28 who can play the old timey fiddle style. Our current fiddle player is going to be moving soon and we need to fill the spot ASAP. Must be experienced, easy to get along with and have most weekends open.

Our style is very much aimed at the likes of Foghorn Stringband with the rawness of Old Crow Medicine Show. We have an upright washtub bass, guitar, mandolin, and clawhammer banjo. Singing isn’t required but definitely a plus.

We are already established and have a lot of gig offers piling up, so we need to fill this spot quickly. We are located in Zanesville and practice just about every other weekend, but can be flexible.

We play very frequently, between 4-6 shows per month, and hardly take non or small paying gigs. We play mostly within an hours drive, but this summer will be playing larger fairs and festivals which may require more travel (we carpool)
We play large and small gigs, festivals, square dances, fairs, and opry houses – such as the Wheeling Jamboree.

Check us out on Facebook Here

If interested, contact me on this site, email us here , or call 740-704-4720 for Brandon.
